Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, actor and musician, is known for his witty and sharp-edged parts in action films. He has appeared in more than $2.5 billion worth of films. Walter Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955, in the city of Idar-Oberstein (West Germany) to Marlene Kassel and David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point New Jersey), both of whom lived on the United States military base. The family relocated to America soon following the birth of his son. He grew up in Penns Grove (New Jersey) where his mother was an employee at a bank, while his father was an electrician and worked in the factory. Willis began to develop an interest in the drama arts in high school. He was "discovered" when he worked in an New York City cafe. Then, he was a part of various off-Broadway productions. He was working as a bartender one night when a casting director spotted his charm and approached to cast him as bartender in a tiny film. Willis was a candidate for a variety of film roles, however, he was not given credit. He was eventually offered the part of David Addison, a private eye, along with Cybill Shepherd, in the romantic comedy show Moonlighting (1985). His humorous and wisecracking P.I. is one of the highlights of his professional career. Many view it as an exercise to prepare for Willis his role in Die Hard (1988), in which he fought an international gang of thieves in the top of a Los Angeles skyscraper. The sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990), Willis reprised his character in the role of McClane. The plot set in Washington's Dulles International Airport where a group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers are trying to reclaim an incorrigible South American general. The sequel, Die Hard with revenge (1995), was a huge success. It featured Samuel L. Jackson as an obnoxious Harlem shop owner who is required to help McClane in a attack that occurred during a hot New York day.
