Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams is the daughter of
Sandra Kay (Gale), an Ontario nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams a truck driver
as well as furniture moving. Her birthplace was in London, Ontario on November
17th, 1978. Rachel is of English, Welsh, Irish, and Scottish descent. Rachel
began acting when she was when she was a teenager. By the age 13 she was in
Shakespearean productions at summer camp for theater. After graduating, Rachel
received a BFA degree from York University in Theater. After her debut in an
episode of Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson (1998) and co-starred on the
Canadian television series Slings and Arrows (2003), a comedy-drama about the
challenges and struggles of the members of a Shakespearean theater group, and
won the Gemini award for her performance in 2003.Her breakthrough role in the
role of Regina George in the hit comedy Mean Girls (2004) instantly put her on
the short list of Hollywood's most sought-after young actors. In the following
film, she was cast as the opposite of Ryan Gosling in The Notebook (2004). It
was a huge success in the box office and quickly became the leading romantic
drama for a younger generation of moviegoers. McAdams had a meeting with
Gosling during filming. They dated through the middle of 2007. McAdams her next
film was the comedy Wedding Crashers (2006), the thriller Red Eye (2004), as
well as the holiday-themed drama The Family Stone ((2005)). McAdams also
explored independent films with Married Life (2007) which was premiered at the
Toronto Film Festival. It also featured Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper along
with Patricia Clarkson. McAdams starred in The Lucky Ones (2007) and State of
Play (2008) and State of Play (2008), respectively. She also starred in the
film The Time Traveler's Wife(2009) and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's
international hit Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams was the shrewd producer of a
failed morning show on TV in Morning Glory (2010), the materialistic fiancee of
Owen Wilson in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris (2011) as well as a return to
romantic drama with the cult film The Vow (2012) opposite Channing Tatum.
McAdams is also in the film with Terrence Malick in To the Wonder (2012) and
Noomi Rapace is Passion (2012) in Brian De Palma's film thriller.
