Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born to British parents Jacqueline Luesby, a lawyer, and Chris Watson, a teacher, in Paris, France. When she was five, she moved to Oxfordshire, where she was a student at the Dragon School. At the age of six years old, Emma was aware that she would like to become an actress and, for a number of years, she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part-time theatre school in which she learned to sing, dance and acting. At the age of 10 Emma was already performing engaged in Stagecoach productions and school productions. The casting process began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (192001) which was the film adaptation J.K. Rowling’s bestselling novel. Casting agents discovered Emma through her Oxford theater teacher. After eight consecutive auditions, David Heyman revealed to Emma and Rupert Grint (other applicants) that they were selected to play Hermione Gringer, Harry Potter, and Ron Weasley. Emma's debut on the screen was when the film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. The film was the most successful film of 2001 in terms of its opening-day and weekend take-homes. Film critics praised the film as well as the performance of its actors who were just starting out. The Daily Telegraph, a British publication with a significant readership, described her performance as "admirable". Then, Emma was nominated for five awards for her performance in the film. She was awarded the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in a Feature Film. Emma was one of the most famous actors after the movie's success. Hermione Granger continued to play her character for a total of ten years in the Harry Potter films. Emma has received two Critics' Choice Award nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
