Alexandra Rose Raisman Bio

 Alexandra Rose Raisman (born May 25 in 1994) is a retired American artistic gymnast, and a two-time Olympian. She was the American women's Olympic gymnastics team captain for both the 2012 and 2016 "Fierce Five" U.S. teams. In the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, she was awarded a gold medal in the team event, making her and her teammate Gabby Douglas the sole Americans who won back-to-back gold team medals. Raisman also earned silver medals in the individual all around and floor exercise. Raisman also won silver medals in the individual all around and for floor exercise. She has also been two-time champion in the national championships on floor exercise (2012 2012, 2015) as well as the 2012 national champion on balance beam, and she has won five medals in the all-around section at the national championships (silver in 2016, and bronze in 2010, 2011, 2012, and in 2015, bronze in 2010, 2011, and). Inducted into The International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. Raisman was born on the 25th of May, 1994 in the Boston suburb of Needham, Massachusetts, to Lynn (nee Faber), the former high school gymnast and Rick Raisman. There are three sisters younger than her: Madison, Chloe, & Brett. Raisman is Jewish she has said she takes great pride of being able to represent the United States of America, but also the Jewish community throughout the world. Raisman started gymnastics at the age of eighteen months. She attributes her early enthusiasm for the sport to the "Magnificent Seven", the gold-medal winning U.S. women's team at the 1996 Summer Olympics and whose performance she saw on VHS.She participated in Exxcel Gymnastics and Climbing through Level 8, after which she joined Brestyan's American Gymnastics Club under coaches Mihai and Silvia Brestyan. Raisman graduated from Needham High School in 2012 after finishing her senior year via online classes , while preparing for the Olympics.
